This will facilitate discussion on the approach and methodology for conducting national capacity assessments for national biodiversity monitoring mechanisms and indicators for reporting to the CBD Secretariat, as well as on possible interventions from IKI implementers, other international development partners, and stakeholders.

Questions for discussion will be:
- What should be the scopes of the national biodiversity monitoring mechanisms to 2026 and 2029?
- What are the current mechanisms for biodiversity monitoring and reporting and their limitations?
- Which organisations are responsible for collecting and holding data, and for calculating indicators that should be consulted for assessment?
- What are possible contributions that your projects/organisations could make in support of developing the pathway and subsequently the GBF monitoring mechanisms and indicators?
Participants will be asked to cluster common activities of interventions and discuss possible synergies.
