Meeting on the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) Monitoring Mechanism and Indicators

We invite you to an IKI Implementer Meeting on the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) Monitoring in Mechanism and Indicators.

This thematic IKI Implementer Meeting aims at providing IKI implementers and relevant stakeholders with outcomes of the initial assessment of status quo of biodiversity monitoring systems and indicators of the country, extent of their alignment with the GBF monitoring mechanism and indicators and facilitating discussion on approach and methodology to conduct national capacity assessment for national biodiversity monitoring mechanisms and indicators for reporting to the CBD Secretariat as well as determining possible interventions from IKI implementers and other international development partners.

Questions for discussion will be:

  1. What scopes of the national biodiversity monitoring mechanisms to 2026 and 2029 should be
  1. What are the current mechanisms for biodiversity monitoring and reporting and their limitations
  1. Which are organisations responsible for collecting and holding data, and for calculating indicators that should be reached out for assessement
  1. What are possible contributions that your projects/organisations could make in support of developing the pathway and subsequently the GBF monitoring mechanisms and indicators

Participants will be asked to cluster common activities of interventions and discuss possible synergies
