Land, water, life. The impact of the BES Solution Fund in Viet Nam
Land, water, life. The impact of the BES Solution Fund in Viet Nam
“Crimson leaves fall in waves, guiding the soldiers’ way…” Set to the voice of Uncle Ba, this BES-Net film follows two living classrooms of restoration in Viet Nam: Tram Chim and Van Long.
What’s inside
Tram Chim – A Wetland Reborn: Restoring water chestnut and wild rice; shifting from three rice crops to two with a rice–fish flood season; piloting Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES) so users of ecosystem benefits contribute back. In 2024, Sarus cranes returned twice – evidence that recovery is taking root.
Van Long – Preserving Heritage on the Waters: Training boat rowers in guiding and storytelling; installing community signage and an information hut; growing ecotourism centered on the endangered Delacour’s langur.
Science–Policy–Practice in action: BES-Net convenes communities, cooperatives, scientists, and policymakers to build a cycle of Restoration–Resilience–Revenue, with people at the center.
